Occasionally, we at Kishmish get an opportunity spend time with our industry peers at partner conferences. Often the idea of a “Partner Conference” can invoke cold chills and preemptive heartburn from overcooked buffet food, but not this time!

Let’s be completely honest here: the subject of backup and storage excites most technologists, unlike the subject of, I don’t know, let’s say printers (ugh!). Those of you reading this that still backup to tape are probably thinking “backups aren’t cool.” Well my friends, remotely backing up your critical data over an impenetrably secure connection is as cool as it gets for IT geeks. Did I mention it’s FIPS-140-2 Certified, block-level, agentless and de-duped too? Sound cool yet?

Asigra has been a leading innovator in cloud based backup software since before the term “Cloud” became the industry’s most overused buzz word. That’s why I’m excited to attend as many hands-on labs time will permit me to while at the Asigra summit this week. There will be Technical and Sales tracks running in parallel.  My only wish is that I could be in two places at once.

With the beginning of the Asigra Cloud Backup Summit, Asigra has announced the release of v10 of the Asigra Cloud Backup Platform. Some of the new additions the the Asigra Cloud Backup Platform include:

• DS-Mobile client availability for laptop backups in the field
• Tiered recovery (local-only backup to machines on end customer’s premises, offsite backup to a service provider or private cloud), allowing users to better align the value of data to the cost of protecting it while achieving higher Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs)
• Asigra Cloud Backup v10 can be deployed as a virtual appliance within virtual infrastructures for maximum application mobility, scalability and uptime.
• Advanced FIPS 140-2 NIST certified security and encryption of data in-flight and at-rest
• New backup sets for comprehensive protection of enterprise applications, including MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS SQL, Windows Server Hyper-V, Oracle SBT, Sybase and Local-Only backup

Kishmish is already delivering these features and more to our customers to ensure that their data is not just backed up – but recovered in a fast and effective manner.  I will be shedding more light on the new features of v10 in the coming weeks.
